Watchdog to check Yandex for personal data law respect in June

ST. PETERSBURG, Jun 6 (PRIME) -- The Russian communications service will conduct a check at Internet company Yandex, and its services, Yandex.Health and Yandex.Taxi, for compliance with the law on personal data in June, the authority’s Director Alexander Zharov told PRIME on Thursday.

“We’re going to have a check of Yandex.Health, Yandex.Taxi, Yandex itself for protection of personal data throughout June,” Zharov said.

“We must give credit that Yandex took the initiative to come to us, discuss and see lawyers. It’s good when a company shows itself ready for cooperation and in this case, certainly, we do not intend to punish somebody. We intend to take prophylactic measures.”
